The team here at the URJ is a remarkable team. Talented, smart, creative, risk-takers, and
people who stand together in such remarkable ways. I chose to move to New York from Boston and
leave a life that I really loved, because in the URJ I saw a real opportunity to make
an immense difference and change in Jewish communal life in North America. I feel like coming in every single day at
the URJ is a little bit like a dream come true. This office has one of the most communal and
familial feels of really any workplace that I’ve ever heard of. Maybe the best part of working at the URJ
is that the work that I am doing is changing the world. I am helping people develop leadership skills
that are building the Jewish community to be stronger, to be more inclusive. Working for an organization that shares many
of the same values that I do is really powerful and really important to me. At the start I felt like I got into family. It’s a very warm, nurturing environment. I didn’t grow up here in New York City, I’m
not from here, and everyone was very welcoming when I first came here. I feel like I have won the lottery being able
to work here as well. We’re a team. People work so closely together. We each bring our gifts. You’re always going to be supported by the
people that you are working with. That’s just kind of really woven into this
organization and everything that it does. I’m happy that my work has ended up here. It has been an incredibly rewarding, challenging
experience and one of the greatest honors of my life. And it’s amazing to be part of something larger,
to think that my piece of that puzzle can help shape a better, more compelling world,
not only for the Jewish people, but for all people.
