Here’s How Kanye West’s ‘Jesus Is King’ Made History on the Billboard Charts | Billboard News

♪ Screaming at my dad ♪ ♪ And he told me it ain’t Christ like ♪ ♪ But nobody never tell you
when you’re being like Christ ♪ – Just when you thought
Kanye West couldn’t make anymore history he’s done
something nobody’s ever done on the Billboard charts before. And it’s all because his
new album, Jesus is King is performing on the
Christian and Gospel charts like we’ve never seen. Jesus is King moved to
264,000 units its first week according to Nielsen Music. Good for number one on
the top Christian albums and top Gospel albums charts. Add that to being number
one on the Billboard 200 top R&B/Hip-Hop albums
and top Rap albums charts and Jesus is King is the
first album ever to top all five rankings. But that’s not it. Typical Kanye, he’s always
gotta do a little extra. Ye is the first artist
ever to have every song on the top ten of the Hot Christian songs and Hot Gospel songs singles
charts simultaneously. The old record for most top
songs on the Christian chart was three. Chris Tomlin, Jordan
Smith, Casting Crowns, and MercyMe all did that. The Gospel songs record
used to belong Lecrae, he owned all of the top
five spots for three weeks back in 2014. Oh, and Kanye also has the number 11 song on the Hot Gospel songs chart. So, if you’re keeping score, that’s every song on the album. See if Jesus is King can
keep up its domination at Billboard.com and I’ll catch you later on Billboard News, I’m Mike Janela. (tech music)

  1. That's amazing! He is creating a big wave and I know more will follow. I can't wait to hear more music that empowers the soul!! We need more of that!!

  2. Jesus is King is one lackluster album. A bunch of Christian cliche’s alongside some half realized song ideas. Despite its solid production, this album is just ‘Ye’ 2.0 but with a Christian theme.

  3. Good for Kanye. I’m proud of the dude. I wish him continued success in all he does. May the Lord bless him and his family. Jesus is King!!!

  4. ….. Despite all you Pathetic Liberal media hit piece to discredit the album because Kanye West refuse to be enslaved to liberal Satanic agenda and their propaganda. You tried to destroy him but got him.🤷🏾‍♀️🇳🇬

  5. 2 Corinthians 5:17. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! Truth: You are new in Christ, even today.
