Jon: You’ve probably heard the word “holy” before or at least sang it in a church song once or twice. And for most people, this idea is really
just connected to being a morally good person… So… God is ‘holy’ because he’s morally perfect. Tim: Yeah, that is part of it… but in the Bible the idea of ‘holiness’
is even bigger and more rich. What it’s really describing is how God is
the creative force behind the whole universe. He’s the one and only being with the power
to make a world full of such beauty and life. And so all these abilities they may God utterly unique,
which is the meaning of the word ‘holy’. A helpful way to think about God’s
holiness is by using the sun as a metaphor. The sun is unique, at least
within our solar system, And its really powerful. Its the source of all this
beautiful life on our planet. And so you could say that the sun is ‘holy’. And you can actually take this metaphor even further in that the whole area around the sun is
also ‘holy’. Jon: Yeah because the closer you get to
the sun the more intense it gets. Tim: yeah, exactly. So that very power and goodness
that generates all this life is also dangerous. I mean the sun, if you get too close, will annihilate you. And in the same way there’s this paradox
at the heart of God’s own holiness because if you’re impure his presence is dangerous to you and not because it’s bad, but because its
so good. And so the first time we see this paradox of God’s holiness,
it’s in the story of Moses and the burning bush. Jon: So God tells Moses to take off his
sandals because he’s standing on holy ground. And Moses covers his face in fear and God says “hey don’t come any closer”. Its intense.
likely that intensity of God’s holiness Tim: It’s actually that intensity of God’s holiness
that’s explored even more in the stories of Israel’s temple which was the main place where
God’s holy presence was located and at the center the temple was this
room called the Most Holy Place it’s the hotspot of God’s presence. and whether you’re an Israelite
living in the land around the temple or a priest working right in the temple,
you are in proximity to God’s holy presence. which is dangerous. Jon: Yeah, this is a problem.
So how is it supposed to work? Tim: Well in the Bible the solution is
that you need to become “pure”. Jon: So like being Morally Pure? Tim: Yeah, and that’s easy enough to understand… …but the Bible spends a lot of time
talking about another kind of purity being Ritually Pure which is a state where you separate yourself
from anything related to death like touching things like diseased skin, or dead bodies,
or even certain bodily fluids. all these make you impure. And becoming ritually impure isn’t necessarily sinful. What’s wrong is waltzing into God’s presence
when you’re in an impure state. And so that’s why God gave the Israelites
very clear instructions for knowing when they were impure… steps to become pure, so that they could
go into the temple again. Jon: So that’s what the book of Leviticus is about. Tim: Right. But it doesn’t stop there.
This idea keeps developing So later in the scriptures we find this
really interesting story by a prophet named Isaiah. And he has this crazy vision where he’s in
the temple and he’s right in God’s presence. He’s
totally terrified. Jon: Yeah. He knows the rules.
He shouldn’t even be in there. And he’s worried about being destroyed. Tim: And then this crazy creature called a Seraphim. Jon: Yeah, that is a crazy creature. Tim: Totally. So it flies over with a hot coal. And then it sears Isaiah’s lips with the
coal and says something really weird… “Your guilt is taken away and your
sin is atoned for.” Jon: So this burning coal somehow makes Isaiah pure. Tim: Yeah, its remarkable because normally if you touch something impure
it transfers its impurity to you. But now here’s this new idea where you have this coal, this very holy and pure object,
and it touches Isaiah and it transfers its purity to him. Isaiah is not destroyed by God’s holiness,
he’s transformed by it. I mean the implications of this are just huge. But there’s one more development, this
time from another prophet, Ezekiel. And he has this vision where
he’s standing at the temple and he sees water trickling out from it. And then that water turns into a stream and then a grows into a deep river that
starts flowing through the desert leaving this trail of green trees behind it. And then it flows into the Dead Sea
making everything fresh and alive. Jon: So, instead of becoming pure first
and then going into the temple… …here God’s holiness comes out from the
temple making things pure bringing them to life. What does it all mean? Tim: So, we don’t know.
Until we meet this man Jesus. And he claims that he’s fulfilling all of these ancient visions
but in surprising new ways. So Jesus, he went around touching people who are impure… … people with skin diseases,
a woman with chronic bleeding, or dead people… and when he touches them,
their impurity should transfer over to Jesus … … but instead, Jesus’ purity transfers to them
and actually heals their bodies. Jon: Jesus is like that holy coal in Isaiah’s vision. Tim: Right. And Jesus claimed that he was
the human embodiment of God’s own holiness. and that he and his followers were now
God’s temple so that through them God’s holy presence
would go out into the world and bring life and healing and hope. And so this is why Jesus described his followers
as having streams of living water flowing out of them. Jon: So this is our part of the story where
we find ourselves now, but where is it all heading? Tim: so the last pages of the Bible end
with a final vision about God’s holiness… This time it’s by a guy named John. And in his vision we see the whole world made completely new. The entire earth has become God’s temple. And Ezekiel’s river is there flowing out of God’s presence, immersing all of creation, removing all impurity and bringing
everything back to life.

  2. These are so cool and I learn something every day. New to Christ and find it hard to read the bible. These help so so much

  3. Eden in high place overlap heaven, very interesting and makes sense, where is the idea came from?
    Thank you for amazing work

  4. Explain to me, will Jesus will use me during the end time's . Help me to understand ? Like you're program very much. God's Grace be upon you . Hallelujah ?

  5. They idiots… Basic knowledge… Nothing more… Interesting point … When you want to debate with them they run like chicken…. Idiots.

  6. There is no solar system, the earth is flat just like it mentions over and over in the Bible. I made a donation once and after a few videos I wish I could have taken it back. You guys totally screw this up.

  7. Me: wow this is so cool and rich w awesome explanations!

Also me: aw look at Jesus’s lil scruffy hair

  8. I was disappointed with this one and I love your shares. Holy means “set-apart” and perfect is to be sincere. Do over! Our purpose is to be sincerely set apart. All praise to the Most High! Be transformed

  9. Holiness. Sounds like a cloudy swiss cheese thing filled with holes. But the word "wholey" seems more full to me. I wish clergy would pontificate about inviting the "spirit of love" into ones body rather than inviting a cloudy swiss thing into ones body.

Also the dictionary incorrectly says that ignorance is absence of knowledge. But ignorance is absence of love (truth). Because the magic of love creates joy, beauty and harmony. Opposite of ignorance (absence of love) aka. greed…which creates misery, ugliness and conflict.

  10. Please address as “Jesus Christ”. Sin was removed and death defeated only by Jesus Christ. He is the alpha and omega and He is the way to salvation. His blood washes our sins away. So the main point is our sin is removed by the blood of Jesus Christ , so whoever confesses and believes in Jesus Christ will truly be saved.

  11. God is not holy.
    He invented fec*ls.
    (Ok, that is forgivable.)
    But he also invented rape
    and genocides.

And you know, what God talks about democracy?
In the Bible the evil northern Israel was democratic,
while the southern Judah was a theocracy.
You know, that kind of state, which is now at the territory of IS.

  12. yes. holy burns, don't forget it. when you realize you've done wrong, when you're becoming a better person, it burns. it's only the sin and evil burning away but it burns nonetheless. and that's only semi holy concepts; pure holy concepts could kill a man or make him go ravingly mad I presume.

  13. the sun metaphor got me feeling uneasy simply because people actually worship the sun as their god…. So to relate it to YHWH feels wrong… In my opinion. But I must say… Great work!

  14. God is holy because he is morally perfect? What are you guys saying? God is holy because that is the perpetual state of god’s existence. The best humans can achieve is innate virtue. However, what happens if God doesn’t meet you expectations of morality? Say 3 wives is okay? Is God no longer holy? Do you presume to judge God by your moral standard?

  15. Also, nothing outside a man can defile him. But what can defile him? Jesus said the heart can defile a man.

The heart is deceitfully wicked, who could know it?? By our own hearts, we deceive ourselves! Like how sometimes you think you are doing really good and following Jesus so well only to realize through trials and tribulations afterward that you were severely damaging your own walk becoming lost because of your deceitful and wicked heart! Deceit only exists BECAUSE we lean on our own understanding of God's plan. Otherwise, we would never be deceived by our own ways if we could recognize the difference between our ways and God's ways before we go our own ways lol. But never fear evil, for His strength is made PERFECT in weakness & when we lean on our own understanding, we become weak indeed. Fear God….because He is SO Holy and SO good, His mercies are new everyday! And we can learn from His new mercies everyday just how unworthy we are of recognition for our works that can't ever even compare to the perfect work of God in us. He is so good, hallelujah, He is so worthy. Forget our recognition! As Jesus said, "If I glorified myself, my glory would mean nothing for it is the Father that glorifies me" All glory to God forever and always!

  16. The Bible Project team
Couldn't the last part of this video about the book of revelation, lead people to think that God will restore the whole world and everything is going to be ok again (without any evil)? It doesn't exactly give any impression that people must choose to trust in the shed blood of Jesus Christ to become saved, else they aren't going to be a part of that restored earth.

  17. Holiness is essential.
Woow!! this video really kicks every understanding we christian had before.
this is because we are not really strong in The Word..

Thank you TBP you are awesome!
reading bible really made me easily understand your videos

  18. Wonderful video. One of my faves so far. Luther taught that the gospel, through the means of grace, i.e. Gospel, Baptism and Lord's Supper, brought the gifts of God to us. Thus worship is more God moving toward us sharing and showering His gifts on us than us "performing" for Him. This lines up perfectly with your explanation of holiness coming FROM the temple and not our preparation making us holy. Only the Holy One makes His people holy. Our praise and prayer and song are simply our thanksgiving (thank offerings). God bless your entire team and project.

  19. Everybody, I'm writing this for your own good. Do NOT follow the teachings of Tim Mackie. One of his videos came to my attention, I need to speak out regarding him; he is teaching you lies. He IS misleading you. I speak as somebody who used to be a total God hater but who now has come to the knowledge of the truth; I wasn't pre or post indoctrinated with mainstream Christian doctrines, I came to the knowledge of God on a blank slate. I'm telling you, you will receive nothing good from Tim's teachings; they are literally heresy upon heresy.
I want to tell you, first, if you call yourself a Christian, know this: you cannot truly be called a child of God if you are not actually walking in His ways; if you are not striving to deny yourself, to pick up your cross and follow Jesus Christ, to crucify your flesh, to put away ALL willful sin and disobedience to God, if you're not doing these things then you ARE calling Jesus Christ Lord in VAIN. He said:

When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are:

Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets.

But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity.

There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out.

    (Luke 13:25-28 KJV)

Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

    (Matthew 7:21-23 KJV)

And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?

    (Luke 6:46 KJV)

(Regarding the above, who else calls Jesus Christ Lord? This is directed at you, Christians; don't let Jesus Christ close the door on you.)

Don't be deceived, Hell is a real place. God is not a tyrant; He is love but He is also justice. If you die with a heart defiled with sin, you will go to Hell. You cannot expect to spend eternity with a righteous God if you have made an effort to transgress His righteous Law and defile your heart with sin. It doesn't matter if you have been born again before, it is possible for you to choose to defile yourself again even after that fact. God does not "see you through Jesus Christ". This is not in the Bible, along with many of the things that this channel and what Tim Mackie profess. Your faith does put you at a good standing in front of God, but that's because faith means both TRUSTING and OBEYING God (Romans 4). Faith is not just some mental knowledge or affirmation of God's power or deity. "America's Christianity" has lied to you, masses are being incredibly deceived. This video, channel, and others like it are a trap; this is NOT the truth.
Fear of God is not simply respecting God; fear of God is necessary to keep us from sin, it's for our own, it's a fear of the consequence of sin and it should be very active in your life. If not, you're in danger.

Second, if you are reading this and are coming from a church that teaches that obedience to God is not necessary or is even bad; I'm talking to you. You are being DECEIVED; throw away that doctrine because it's not true and it's misleading you into defiling yourself and actually walking away from God. I urge you to gain a strong sense of discernment and to read the Scripture without any lenses of indoctrination, but objectively and on a clean slate. All in all, it is something that your eternity depends on.

So if any church place is teaching you something contrary to these things or is not teaching you them, then get out of there. They're not walking in truth; it's their word against God's and all in all, God wins. Don't let it be too late for you when you find out.

Personally, I have not ever been a member of some church place, I'm not feeding you some dogma, I'm telling you the truth. I've come to know God's precious truth and see many around astray; I want for you to know what I know and to have what I have. If you reach out to Jesus Christ with a sincere heart, He WILL answer you, like He answered me.

There's a lot of stuff out there today that misleads people and hoards are falling for it; the Bible talks and warns about that, don't get caught up in this.
Don't just feed yourself with anything with a "Christian" title next to it; have discernment, this is absolutely crucial, as a complete understatement.

Humans are not morally corrupt; this is a complete made up fallacy by this channel. The Bible says nothing like this. I'd be weary of everything you glean off of this channel, don't take it for face value, always verify it with Scripture. Humans are only morally corrupt when they repetitiously transgress God's righteous Law; His Law, which is written in the hearts of everybody, is what we base our morals off of in the first place. Consider the parents of John the Baptist, they we're alive during Jesus Christ's time but before He was born; they are called both blameless and righteous in the Bible; they, as well as many other people both within the Bible and certain ones that are alive today, do not have their morals corrupted.

Finally, to clear up a possible misconception, God wants for all people to come to repentance; once again, He is not a tyrant. He is righteous and just, he is both justice and love and He wants for all to get a clean heart.
Reach out to Jesus Christ and let Him clean out your heart and then overcome all sin till the end of your life, as we are called to do, by Jesus Christ Himself. Walking in obedience to God has a naturally, very good consequence for a person while they are alive; it is most important for after a person's life. The things that we are told to stay away from are for our own good. We choose whether we love life and peace or whether we love sin and death. Sin leads to eventual destruction, always.

Therefore, beloved, looking forward to these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, without spot and blameless; and consider that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation–as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given to him, has written to you, as also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand,
which untaught and unstable people twist to their own destruction, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures.
You therefore, beloved, since you know this beforehand, beware lest you also fall from your own steadfastness, being led away with the error of the wicked; but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen.
    (2 Peter 3:14-18 NKJV)

For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.
    (2 Timothy 4:3-4 NKJV)

But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction. And many will follow their destructive ways, because of whom the way of truth will be blasphemed. By covetousness they will exploit you with deceptive words; for a long time their judgment has not been idle, and their destruction does not slumber.
    (2 Peter 2:1-3 NKJV)

To the pure all things are pure, but to those who are defiled and unbelieving nothing is pure; but even their mind and conscience are defiled. They profess to know God, but in works they deny Him, being abominable, disobedient, and disqualified for every good work.
    (Titus 1:15-16 NKJV)

"Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. "You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? "Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. "A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. "Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. "Therefore by their fruits you will know them.
    (Matthew 7:15-20 NKJV)

Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:

Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

    (Matthew 7:13-14 KJV)

  20. I can not stand hearing people also using the word Holy with such disrespect to say the least. ?

  21. I just found your channel this weekend and all I can say is what a blessing thank for doing God's work. Very informative and full of the Holy Spirit. Blessing alot of people and God gets the glory. Thank you.

  22. To be Holy is to master being a whole being, to have greater purpose, a greater free-will. To be pure but resistant and awareof corrupt, natural forces (while not being blinded to purity and its ways) – It's about balance in the spirit, and in the mind. It's about having a refined moral compass and having it well exercised. It's about knowing truth and doing it. It's about knowing that it's all about what we leave behind, and not what to take beyond (while also enjoying the trip)

  23. Can y’all do a video on Sanctification?? That will answer so many questions on what it means to be Truly Sanctified by God…Only TheBibleProject Team can explain it in such Joy where we can understand.

  24. We are the holiness of G-d in Christ Jesus. G-d commands "Be you holy, for I am holy." Then we have the laws of G-d to depend on to be holy, through Christ Jesus. A new law/testament for us to follow and be the holiness of G-d in Christ Jesus.

  25. Solar system??? No, no, no. We live in an enclosed system. A Geocentric system, not Heliocentric. Sun worship, Rah worship, Ba'al worship is idolatry. The earth was created before the sun. The earth is older than the sun. There is a Firmament. An Expanse. A Dome. We live on an immovable earth with firm foundations.
There are no planets, just wandering stars. I can go on and on.

  26. Inspired by you, there is nice analogy in relationship with God. If earth was closer to sun, there would be no life. If further from sun, no life as well. Same implies to man. You would die in both cases. You must be close to God holiness to receive, but not much, because it can overwhelm you like the sun's heat.

  27. I pray all that i have not prayed against are God's definitions of Holy and pure inside and out and are able to be the exact center of God's holiness and have that center inside and out of all that i have not prayed against as well. I pray against all impurity as well. I pray all that i have not prayed against are right in the center of God's presence and that center is inside and out of all that i have not prayed against. I pray that coal Isaiah got and the stream Ezekiel saw are inside and out of all that i have not prayed against and we are in the centers of the Holy coal and the Holy stream, as well as the human embodiment of God's holiness. I pray the old and new earth, same with the old heaven and new heaven are one and i loose Ezekiel's river inside and out of all my prayers, subjects and stipulations as well in Jesus of Nazareth's name amen.

  28. The word holy means set apart. It does not mean unique. God is holy, holy, holy. He is set apart, set apart, set apart.

  29. I think if we look at why the 5-books of Moses were given, they were given so we would be Kadosh, set apart holy and sanctified, the very thing Yeshua's Father states and reiterates, He wants His people to be set apart / Holy. In the books of the Torah in particular וַיִּקְרָא we can see that יהוה set out His instructions for man to abide in to be holy.
ִI think Yeshua makes it very clear, He didn't come to do away with one jot or tittle of the Torah, and as such we are to live according to His Fathers Word, all of it, without adding too or diminishing from. As the only thing Yeshua took to the stake was our sins and the sacrificial system, that means His Instructions / Torah still stand and if we live by them, will make us Holy according to Him.

The following verse tells me all i need to know about seeking His ways

  30. Why does most of the churches allows boot/shoes/slippers inside the church as it's Holy 'cause Holy Spirit God presence is in the church.

  31. Thanks so much for this. Wasn't having the best day, and this lit me up on the inside. Thanks. This project is blessing people all around.

  32. ???? you are awsm …. Blessed be your soul and you need not to worry for the funding coz you are doing something so blessed that God himself will satisfy your needs from heaven above ?? blessed be your souls ????

  33. A simple yet powerful detail of the true nature of color speaks volume. When you speak the truth it cannot be misrepresented so I appreciate the illustration of facts.

  34. I used to love the channel but You guys aren't serious , how can you state that the seraphim is a crazy creature ?? You are just joking … Makes sure next time you be serious

  35. Praise God from who all blessings flow. You guys are amazing and praying your work brings more people to Jesus from planting the seed of salvation in an easy to understand way. Bless you.

  36. is it not ok to call Him Ya or should we call Him by His title? I know His name is so important He even carved His name in the mountians of Israel. Google earth has good pics of His handy Works ?
