Midweek Clip: The Lord gives us a way of escape in the midst of our temptations

And the word that is used for “deliver”
in Matthew 6:13 means to rescue from severe or acute danger. “Lord, deliver us from the severe, acute
danger that the evil one wants to bring upon his people.” And this is what makes the gospel not just
good news but the best news possible! The gospel delivers. The gospel of Jesus Christ delivers! Delivers us from the penalty of sin, the power
of sin, and ultimately, the presence of sin. The apostle Paul says, “The Lord Jesus Christ
gave himself for our sins to deliver us from the present evil age, according to the will
of God our Father.” Galatians 1:4 “He has delivered us from deadly peril, and he will deliver us. On him we have set our hope that he will deliver
us again.” “The Lord will rescue me from every evil
deed and bring me safely into his heavenly kingdom. To him be the glory forever and ever.” And then finally, the Apostle Peter says,
“The Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials.” How does he do that? Through the way of escape. The way of escape. The way of escape. The ways that God infinitely and resourcefully
provides a way out in the midst of our temptations. And in the midst of our tests.
