Serving as the Hands and Feet of Jesus in Tennessee

It was very violent, and you
can feel it in your body. It was 15, 20 minutes
of sheer terror. It sounded like a bomb went off. My house shook. And then the light went off. I was super disoriented. It sounded like a freight
train all around us. All of the tree, debris
that you never seen before, it all over the place. The tornado came in the
middle of the night. I mean, they weren’t even aware
that this thing was coming. There was no warning. Most of them woke
up to the noise. Not a clue what was going on. They were just in shock. I didn’t know what to do,
where to start, whom to call, or what to do. Then I call my
insurance and found out that they had dropped me. And then all these
good people show up. And I’m just overwhelmed,
just like, yeah. It’s just like, wow. We’re in Tennessee,
the Nashville area. We’re in the midst of some major
devastation, working on homes. There’s still many
people who just love helping their neighbors. And we’re seeing that
here in Tennessee. It’s just been phenomenal. God, we want to thank you
for matching us up with KD. We just ask you to
be with him and just let him know how
much you love him. I don’t have thing to
repay them the kindness. Yeah. So. [SOBS] Helping others, that’s
what it’s all about. There’s no greater fulfilling
feeling than to see somebody in need and being able to help. Because we are called to be the
hands and feet of God on Earth. So yesterday we were blessed
to have a group of 15, 20 of the local
Marines come out, willing to do the work that we
normally do with hand trucks and wheelbarrows. They were just lugging
the stuff out– the brush and the debris–
and bringing to the street. And never stopped. A lot of Marines that
live around here, they weren’t directly affected. But we all know
someone that was. So we ceased all operations
that we usually do every day. And we mobilized 25
Marines to come out throughout entire Nashville,
multiple different spots, and just give a helping hand. 20 years ago, I was
in the Marine Corps. And once a Marine,
always a Marine. So these guys here working on
my house, they’re my brothers. There aren’t words to express
how appreciative I am of that. We come from all
over the country just to be able to
revel on these people and act pretty much as
Jesus would have acted. He didn’t ask questions. He just loved on the people. We try to follow the
example of our Lord. Once the job is done,
we call them homeowner, and we present them a Bible,
and we pray for them at the end. And that is the best
gift we can give– our service, our
love, and a Bible to leave behind with them. We believe in the
hope of Jesus Christ. And everyone that
comes and volunteers believes the same thing. All we do is want to love
you and say Jesus loves you more than we ever could. Before about an hour ago, I
know nothing about the Bible. So today I know. And I’m sure I will read it. Although it’s probably pretty
hard and take a long time read the thick Bible. But I will read it. I’m sure I will read it. And I’m sure I read
it to my wife too. Lord, thank you for our
two neighbors here– I would say that if
you’re able-bodied and you have some time to
devote to somebody else– even if it’s just a half
a day, an afternoon, a couple of hours–
come and serve with us. It’s the owners,
or homeowners, that truly appreciate every single
one of us that are here. You can support them by prayers. Always keep them in mind. And then love on others
the way God loves us. When tragedies like this occur,
you lean on those around you and hope that they
help lift you up. Thank you to Samaritan’s
Purse for what you’ve done and what you continue to do. This is the first
time in my life I believe that there is a God. And I believe that God
sent you guys to help me. This is wonderful day for me.
